Mindfulness
Welcome to Nicole Edwards’
Mindful Musical Tool Kit
The following songs are my own Self-Directed Music Therapy. I’m happy to share them with you. They have different vibes and styles for different occasions and ages. Please take a look/listen to see which one/s work for you and/or your participants.
You don’t have to be sitting in a cross-legged lotus pose to successfully practice mindfulness. Meditation is one amazing tool.
What I’m offering: Musical Mindful Strategies.
MUSIC is a mindful tool that works for me, like an anchor. I find it helpful to have a peaceful soundtrack running in my head, helping to ground me as I go through life’s daily challenges. Singing is a great breathing exercise, like physiotherapy for the lungs. Melody can be a useful memory-aid. Rhythm can help to break up a negative thought or pattern. Can you think of any songs that lighten your mood? It’s ok if singing is not for you. Listen, clap, tap, dance, sing out-loud or re-play it inside your head, as you like. Adapt the lyrics, tempo or melody so it resonates with you and/or your participants.
"Neuroplasticity is the brain’s capacity to continue growing and evolving in response to life experiences. The import-ance of neuroplasticity can’t be overstated: It means that it is possible to change dysfunctional patterns of thinking and behaving and to develop new mindsets, new memories, new skills, and new abilities.” Psychology Today
May these songs be of service to YOU and yours.
I am grateful to live and create within the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün and Carcross-Tagish First Nations and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
HAaaaaaapppinessssss, Nicole
